First Beard

So Charizard had his first black beard yesterday. We had Winston out and the old man decided he wanted to walk around a bit. He hopped off the couch onto the floor next to Charizards tank is (unfortunately we dont have any stands or enough tables to put a 29L on or a 20L). Charizard looked over sat him and puffed up like a balloon, and his beard turned jet black. We laughed a minute before Charizard started head bobbing at a dragon twice his size, then retrieved Winston. Charizard settled down a bit later, his beard stayed black for a while. Hes good now, we had them both out later and neither one made a move towards dominating one another. Charizard was probably saying that this was his turf.

A rant

So aparently Bojangles doesnt offer a 'Meduim' size in anything anymore.

I do not approve

But! Christmas was good, our ski trip got canceled because of snow. The irony. And so i just hung out with Ace and his family, but when i had to go home the roads had frozen over. They werent too bad on regular roads, but I-485 was really bad. So my mom let me stay another night, she and Ace's mother would have worried too much if he had tryed to take me home. I had fun despite no skiing.

Christmas

Merry Christmas guys!

Small update, family's in town so epic shopping was epic. I'm also working christmas morning, not because i have to. She offered and i dont mind much, getting a bit of a bonus for it apparently. Then, Ace's family is taking me skiing the day after christmas :)

Been a while

Its been a while since i updated. Been sorta busy?
Not really :p
But we ordered Phoenix Worms for everyone, proper calicuim to phosphorus ratio. They seem to enjoy them, the itty bittys get excited when they see the container. They've also already eaten 1 container, we've only had them for maybe a week?

Got a bit scared today, but i feel like being a dork too

So Ace went to the hospital today. Aparently he slipped on soap in the shower this morning, and hit his head on the faucet. He cut his face on it and hurt his leg and hand falling i'm assuming. But he's ok now, just sore and wont take the meds the doctor prescribed. I understand why, but at the same time if it will help the pain i'd take the pain killers.

I keep forgetting my camera for updated pictures of Charizard. So tonight when i feed them since Ace unfortunately cant i will have pictures :)

Nothing particularly new

So Thanks giving was good. My cousin got to meet Ace, was a bit nervous about it since pretty much all of my family on my mom's side didnt like my last boyfriend. Though if she doesnt like him, my cousin that is its fine with me. Though i'm pretty sure it was cool, weird but cool :p

We played D&D today at a friends place, i had to leave early though. I have to get up at like 6 am for work at 7am, need to text amy from work to make sure.

Nothing new with the lizards, though we are contemplating switching them from crickets to Dubia roaches. Mostly because there easier to keep and breed better, though i dont know if the itty bittys can have them. I dont think the roaches come in different sizes like crickets, pretty sure its egg to larvae to roach with them.

Basic day today

Basic day, nothing too interesting to report.

Though Ace's gas tank may have been siphoned in our driveway or his gas gauge has finally gone to shit.  Either way we filled it up a bit and it started, hopefully he'll get home ok to feed the itty bittys :)

Oh, Turkey Day is tomorrow. Ace may come over, though he should visit his mother for a bit. Were not sure how were gonna cook our bird this year. Its too big for our oven. :p

Birthday

So my sisters birthday was today. She's 17, yay?

But that really it for today, though Ace did get the washer\dryer hookup fixed and can now wash his own laundry now. So this week is EPIC cleaning week. I offered to help, though i gotta work tommorow :/. Oh well, having money is somewhat more important

Has the best boyfriend evar

So i met Ace for lunch on friday, he was over an hour late. I was a bit peeved till he gave me a prsent and explained that that was why he was late. He gave me a used DSI (new is for rich people) and bought Poke`mon Heart Gold. He then bought himself a DSLite and Silver with it. :)

Also the itty bittys are doing good, shedding hard core. So is Charizard. Though we need more food, my check from work will be servicing that need :). Oh yea, forgot to mention that i has jobs now :). Mucking out stables, so much better than working at Carowinds btw.

Hokay, so we went to petsmart yesterday. Were out of crickets and until Ace got paid today we needed some to tide everyone over till we order more. But we got our crickets and looked at their reptiles, cooing over them at how adorable baby beardies are. But upon closer observation one little guy was in shed, no big deal right? Yea, well this guy was having serious trouble with his shedding, it looked as if he had a rubber-band around his belly where his shedded skin was constricting him.

I found an assosiate and mentioned to him that the little guy needs a luke warm bath and he'll probably be ok. Now according to him he couldnt do anything about it since he's not the reptile expert, apparently that guy comes in this morning. Honestly the little beardie shouldnt have had to wait that long to receive attention. Especially since he really just needed a warm soak to loosen the shedded skin. I'll be going back after class to see if he did tell the morning people that that beardie needed attention. If not i'm taking all 3 of them, there on sale as well.

Now i know Ace and i already have a menagerie of animals but i dont feel comfortable leaving those 3 in their care, along with the shedding there were crickets roaming the cage as they basked. And if i recall they were on sand? I know the little leopard gecko was, he was very thin. I was told he had just come in, but why the fuck would you put a obviously ill animal on the floor. It makes you look bad. It is only relocation stress i'm sure, but nobody wants to see a stressed gecko in a brightly lit tank. 

Hopefully a deal can be struck, otherwise we may leave 1 there. But i'd rather have all 3, because if something that little was ignored then the healthier looking guys aren't far behind in being neglected in a similar fashion. Update again when we have this resolved.

EDIT PART 2


So we went between my class and work to check up on the beardies. I didnt see the sheddy guy so i asked a supervisor if he had been seen to. To my relief he had received a warm bath that morning, made me feel so much better.

We then picked up the 2 pretty ones we liked and rescued them as well, one has red side bars and the other was yellow with black tiger stripes with a bit of red speckling. I had to leave for work soon after setting them up.

Unfortunately the little tiger striped one started going downhill, as i feared because Petsmart doesnt take the best care of them. Ace took him back and he was seen by a vet. They gave us a replacement beardie, one from the back. I havent seen him yet but apparently he looks similar to Charizard. Hopefully the tiger striped guy will be ok, its to early for him to go up to beardie heaven.


EDIT PART 3


Everyone's good, the itty bittys are shedding. After listening to Ace's diagnosis on the one tiger stripe that went back it looked like he had internal bleeding. So it is unlikely he survived :(. At least he's in a better place, hopefully. If hes still alive and at petsmart then thats not good, i need to check that petsmart to see if he did make it or not. Might just whine at them to let me have him back if he lived :p

Thoughts

So since getting Charizard i've realized how much i love reptiles and owning one, i used to have turtles. I doubt i'd ever get another turtle, atleast not a water-turtle like a red-eared slider. Maybe a box turtle or a small tortoise of some sort.

But i've been looking at other bearded dragons, any color as it wouldnt matter. Though i wouldnt want (i think its a) hypo? Because they are see-through and have black eyes, like doll eyes :(. I am fond of the Leatherbacks though, not the Silkies though. There bald, like frog bald.

I have always been fond of Leopard Geckos though, even before i knew of beardies. I kinda wanna get one soon, most likly after Charizard gets a bigger tank though as Leopards only need 10 gal minimum. I've found some breeders who look legit, though there far away and i really dont want a new friend shipped via UPS. I'm trying to find one that is close by, but alot of the leopard breeders are in california for some reason...

Had a good day today

Job interview went great. I'll be back on thursday for training\orientation? and probably work on saturday. Sounds pretty cool, despite shoveling horse crap. In all honesty i prefer it over standing behind a cash register all day, and i get to be around horses. Horses are cool, and BIG. I forgot that thoroughbreds are like HUGE compared to quarter horses.

I also got to eat lunch with Ace today, and he didnt need to go back to work so i spent the day hanging with him :). After lunch we took Ivan and Charizard to Petco, they seemed to enjoy themselves. Though it seems Ivan may be afraid of the color red, he freaked when a red shirted guy walked over to ask about him. Charizard was cool as a cucumber, usually is. He's currently shedding on his tail and once again his face, his spikes are becoming more prominent each day i see him.

After that we went to the International Zen Market and Tea or something, got dinner and snacks. Such as: Grouper, Catfish, Ramune sodas, Pockey and a coconut for the curry sauce on the grouper. It was awesome btw. I also missed out of fish with my family, fried Grouper and Mullet? It smelled like it when i got home about an hour ago :)

All in all it was a good day for LaPrice, hopefully my luck will stay this good :)

So update on the jobs

So i may have a job :)

I have a job interview type thing in the morning at a horse ranch. I'll be mucking out stalls and the like, sounds gross but meh its not hard. Plus i'll be around animals which is cool, and i havent been around horses in like forever. Hopefully i'll get this job, need it, and it sounds like just a good opportunity in general.

But Ace is back :). Didn't get to see today when he got back though :(. I better be able to see him tomorrow though, or bitch fits will ensue.

Report

So everyone's good at Ace's apt. Ivan got out though..... thankfully he was on the kitchen counter. Putting him back in his tank however was not an easy task, nails in a open blender is an accurate description of him when he's cranky.

Everyone's been fed today, though Charizard wasn't happy about getting more veggies than crickets this morning. He however got more crickets in the afternoon, and i was surprised that he ate his veggies. (I think Ace hasn't been leaving them in long enough)

But so far so good, almost out of mealies though :/. I'll pick some up tomorrow.

Pet sitting?

So Ace is out of town for 1-2 days this weekend. His grandfather's taking him down somewhere in florida, possibly the everglades or something. His grandfather has his own plane so it is easy for them to do this willy-nilly.

But i'll be watching all the critters at the appt. I'm not sure if you can consider it pet sitting if i see them on a nearly daily basis, either way its cool.

Also, apparently i'll be getting a present from Florida. Probably a lizard of some sort, honestly i don't care. I'm happy either way, though a leopard gecko would be cool. We already have a tank for one :p, just need a bigger one for Charizard and he can have it :)

Jobs and D&D

Still looking for a job, applied to like 8+ today. So far no offers, hopefully something will come up. Honestly tired of getting bitched at about it.

Also me and Ace will (hopefully) be hosting a D&D campaign. I has dice :) , all of which Ace bought or gave to me. Yays :)

Tai ate his first cricket!

We've been offering them along with mealies, he likes the mealies. He hasn't ever shown interest in the crickets though, until now! He ate one, like went after it and ate it. We were so proud of him :)

Also, Charizard's still a fatass and Ivan is doin pretty ok. He's pretty lazy but alert most of the time, and eating so we assume hes doing a lot better than he has been.

Shadowmoor and news

So me and Ace do a LARP in Kings Mountain NC. Shadowmoor is here. Thats where we were all weekend, OMG cold. It was unnessisarily cold this event.  But it was still pretty awesome, cant really tell you guys about it. What i witnessed was FOIP, Find Out In Play.

We got back last night, with a wonderful surprise :)

The Friend Ace had watching everyone cleaned the appt. It was ok until we got back to finish up but she vacuumed and straightened up stuff. But now we gotta keep it nice and clean, and do laundry. But no laundry until the washer\dryer is hooked up and we need an adapter to do that.

Charizard, Tai and Ivan are good. Charizard's appetite is back in full swing, he has been eating a bit less lately. Probably due to shedding. But he's good. Tai seems to be eating better, though I'm not over enough to know, Ivan as well.

Unfortunatly we do have bad news, Ace's Stingray whom had not received a name passed away today. The Ornate Bichir that was in with him continuously took nips out of his disk. We moved the Ornate as soon as we were sure it was him, since he was taking nips out of the Long Fin Senegal Bichir too. However this didn't help much.  The Stingray probably developed an infection from the bites, having had so many. Part of his tail had been nipped as well. We just got to him too late, and he sadly passed. He will be missed, hopefully he'll have a better life somewhere else away from Ornate Bichir.

So i forgot to mention something...

I forgot to mention something important.

Charizard likes House. Apparently when Ace got him for me and before i could go see him for the first time they watched the entire season 4 of House. Charizard sat in front of the screen the entire time. We watched an episode the other day and he watched for maybe 10 minutes, then got figedty. Why?
He'd seen that episode before. He must have wanted us to change it :p

Almost cryed a bit today

Happy New Year

Why happy new year? Because Ace is pagan and Halloween is his new year :). But I'm doing this Trunker-Treat thing for my church, i think its a safe way of tricker-treating? Not sure as I've never done it, i wander around in random neighborhoods for my candy. After that I'll be going to Ace's mothers house for dinner and to help with candy duty. :)

Haven't seen my boys yet today, but i will after the trunker-treat thing :). Ivan is apparently doing a little better, which is good. I like spending time with them, Ace, Charizard, Tai and even Ivan when he behaves. He's not a bad lizard, he's just flighty and easily startled.

Bath Time

We gave Charizard a bath yesterday, very cute to watch him scuttle around in only an inch of water. At first he was kinda afraid to put his face near it and wouldn't let go of my hand, but then he was swimming or trying to. He's shedding on his face so he dunked his face and scratched real good. It was adorable, he did this for maybe 10 minutes, according to Lyn from Carolina Dragons he should have a 15 minute bath. But Charizard wouldn't stay in his bath after scratching most of the skin off so i didn't make him. He seemed to really like his bath though, which is good. Since more parts of him may shed soon I'm gonna give him baths more than once a week.

Oh! The water dragon has a name now, He's called Tai. And apparently Ivan may be much older than he thought, he may be 6 instead of like 2-3. I knew he wasn't in the best health when we got him, due to his ribs showing but he still hasn't gained much weight. He may have parasites. Really hope not, if he is an older Basilisk then he only has maybe 2-4 years left with us. And because he probably was wild caught and wasn't being fed properly i want the rest of his life to be better and hopefully he'll warm up to us a little more.

I caved

Yea i caved and applied to the Bojangles and McDonalds near me. I've been boycotting working there for multiple reasons:

• i hear they dont treat people well
• i'll get fat from eating their food
• standing around jobs hurt my knees
• pay isn't great, no tips

but i need a job, and i can find a better one if i can land one of these :/

Shadow of the Collosus

So me an Ace went out to dinner at O'Charlies, i had the cajun noodle shrimp thing. It was awesome. I'm also applying there, i needs a job :p


Later after dinner for us at the restaurant and crickets for the lizards we had Charizard out. He likes to chill usually, but if he sees or thinks he sees something move he'll run after it. But Charizard and i were watching Ace fail at Shadow of the Collosus (he wasn't failing so much as learning the game by playing and doing about as well as i usually do). But Charizard crawled onto Ace's chest who was leaning on the couch on the floor, Charizard proceeded to nestle against Ace's chest and fall asleep. It was adorable. I picked Charizard up after a little bit and laid him on me, he nestled next to my neck and fell asleep there too. His cute napping habit was cut short by me having to go home and putting him back in his tank. I still feel a bit sorry for disturbing my poor dragons sleep, but i had to go home :/

Been busy

Hay guys, sorry i havent posted (like you seem to care).

But i've had an eventful few weeks, dunno if i mentioned it but i'm dating (yay). But everythings good, were cleaning up his place since it was pretty messy (understandable considering the circumstances that i'm not going to talk about but it needs cleanings). That's what hasnt kept me from posting though, a few new additions has.

:D i have a Bearded Dragon, google them, their badass (note the ones in the picture are fancy dragons, bred for those colors). I'd been contemplating getting one, since i technically do have enough money. But decided that i should wait till i have a job, cause i know little guys eat a shit ton. However, Ace felt bad because i didn't have the cash to buy one and buy all the necessary stuff for one, so he secretly contacted  Carolina Dragons. I have deemed him an awesome boyfriend for doing so, because he didnt have to.

I named my beardi Charizard, specificly ash's charizard from pokemon. His coloring reminds me of one as does his attitude towards veggies, he doesn't want to eat any but we know he likes them. Though crickets are his main diet. He's such a sweet lizard, very friendly and easy to handle. He does like to run after fast moving objects though, whether there crickets or not he'll skitter almost off the couch if were not paying enough attention to him.

Charizard came from Carolina Dragons, based in Charlotte. His particular coloring is I think called Sunkist. Or that's what his mother's name was, I know his dad is fucking huge with a blood red face. I wanted one from Carolina Dragons not necessarily for the awesome colors (they are nice, but I'd be happy with any beardi) but for healthy genes. The Petsmart's near us had good looking dragons but I wanted to make sure, and I recently heard that bearded dragons are actually protected in the wild so I didn't want a dragon from the wild.

We also have a brown basilisk named Ivan the Terrible. It suits him so much, you have no idea. He's a mean fucking lizard. Ace put a leash on him and took to petsmart the other day though, he now is missing a chunk out of his thumb. Ivan didn't mind so much the second time though. We think he may just get cranky when he's hungry. 

Thats an Ivan, he's not nearly as pretty though. Ivan is to our knowledge almost full grown, and were recently discovering he has been under fed and malnourished for some time. I'm tempted to contact the pet store he came from and let them know the proper diet for him in case they get another Basilisk.

We have also recently acquired a Chinese Water Dragon, he doesn't have a name yet. But he seems to be incredibly narcoleptic, he fell asleep on everything when he was brought home apparently.

Thats generaly what he looks like, though ours is prettier in my opinion. I'll let you guys know what his name is when we decide on one. Also! Ace is probably going to do a blog about all of our reptilian pets, and maybe his badass fish (he has them). I'll mention it when he gives me a link for the blog :).

I quit

So i finally quit Carowinds.
Partly because of what my doctor said, but mostly because I'm done with their bullshit. It not worth the pay or my time i could be spending doing more important activity's. Like finding a better job or hanging with friends.

But I've heard that working at the airport isn't too bad. I'll try their and places near my boyfriends place, since i may move in with him later on down the road.

So about my job

I mentioned i hate my job earlyer, so I guess i'll say why.

Carowinds is a theme park that used to be owned by Paramount's. It's now owned by Cedar Fair, who treats their employee's like shit. But I've worked there for 2 years now, the first of which i worked at Carolina Cobra and Carolina Goldrusher. Both were high movement jobs and i always went home with a sore wrist and sore feet, I've got tendinitis in my wrist from drawing and stuff. Basically i hated the fucks i worked with, they never checked height, or did anything correctly after my supervisor left.

Then this year i work in Kiddie Land at Woodstock Express, Woodstock's Whirly Birds and Lucy's Crabbie Cabbie. I generally was ok with the job in the beginning, only going back for the 50 cent raise because I was broke. But i hate the dumb fucks I work with (for the most part, some are ok) and I hate what I do. I make little kids cry nearly every shift and I stand around. ALL FUCKING DAY. It's not worth 7.75 an hour. Don't ever work there, seriously.

Soooo i decided to blog....

So yea peoples on the net call me La-Price, pronounced "Lapras" like the pokemon :). But onto bizniz, i've never blogged before so i thought i might. Mostly out of boredom :p.

I guess i should mention I'm off to the doctor's office today to get my knee looked at, long story short (which will be mentioned later so don't worry) Carowinds fucked up my knee. Carowinds is where i work btw, it's a amusement park. I'm almost hoping that i need surgery so i can file for workman's comp and get money from Carowinds, but at the same time I'd rather not. Mostly because i hate them and would rather not deal with them in a legal-form-shitz. (oh and while typing this sentence i got back from the doctors. she basicly said quit my job and you'll be fine) WIN

ALSO! For maybe a little over a month I've had black swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. They've been in chrysali state for at least 2-3 weeks now. And i just found one in my kitchen, apparently the little fucker got out of the jar and made his chrysalis on the plants. The others were in the jar outside, flapping around. IT MADE MY DAY.
